Well at the Super Bowl get together we meet a guy - Charlie - who has a 3 bedroom condo on the beach at Amelia Island - he is allowing us to use it while the boat is being repaired. It is much better than being in a hotel. We also rented a car and are getting to know the Island here.
A boat surveyor checked out the repairs needed yesterday and the boatyard will begin work today. The weather finally warmed up a little to 70 degrees and for the next few days.

Sorry to hear of your travails - but glad that you both are no worse for wear. Sounds a little hairy to me but we made similar wrong marker selections - the worst one at St. Augustine. That's a very tricky place with the inlet and several bridges to contend with. I love Fernandina Beach so you could be somewhere worse! You passed very close to my place on St. Simon's. Too bad it's been a little chilly but it could be like here - 17 degrees and down to 2 degrees recently. Give each other a hug or several for me. Love, Deb
